About Claire

"The Embodiment of Third Stream" - Tré Bryant

Claire Oselador (they/them) is a queer, neurodivergent composer of concert, stage, and video game music living and working in Central Michigan. With a jazz and musical theater background, they weave together tapestries of genres, styles, and influences into music that they hope will help foster empathy between people of different experiences. Their biggest goal is to write music that helps non-autistic people understand what it actually feels like to be autistic: A lofty goal, as one's neurotype colors the way they process every interaction. They believe that through their works and through their life they can make the world a slightly kinder, more compassionate and empathetic place.

Mx. Oselador holds a B.M. in Music Composition from The Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam, where they studied composition under Tim Sullivan, Jerod Sommerfeldt, Phil Salathé, and Ivette Herryman-Rodriguez. They are currently working towards a M.M. in Composition from Michigan State University, where they have studied under David Biedenbender and Zhou Tian. In addition to their compositional studies, they have studied piano under Young-Ah Tak, Mitchell Schechter, and Sequoia Snyder, trumpet under Anthony Stanco, and voice under Zuke Smith and Carmen Bradford.
